God is bigger than any and every situation.

The Lord has saved me from lions and bears; he will save me from this Philistine.” 1 Samuel 17:37.

Remember the story of David and Goliath? In the end, we learnt that David killed Goliath with his stick and five smooth stones.

Who or what is your Goliath? Who or what situation is costing your sleep? Write your situation on a piece of paper! Write the name of your Goliath! God is about to intervene, that enemy will be defeated!!

The Nature of God

A few months ago, I was in a terrible place. If someone had said to me that I would be writing about God, I would have laughed. Like David, I battled with lions and bears of my own and it was only by God’s grace that I am alive. Now, your situation may not be that extreme, but if it’s causing you to worry it’s just as big.

During my time in the lion’s den, I forgot that God was looking into my situation. He was watching and waiting. The moment I was about to give up, he stepped in and grabbed me. Unlike David, I was unsaved and not really a believer. Did that make a difference to the almighty, ever lasting, omnipotent, holy, forgiving God? No, he still rescued me from the lion’s mouth! God has no favourites, he loves us all, sinner or believer , it really doesn’t matter to him.

God is victorious in every battle and he will put all of you in our power” 1 Samuel 17: 47

The Promise

Throughout the bible,God continues to “show up and show out”. God just does his thing! His promise to Abraham was one of the many ways he showed his love for his people. In the new testament, he sent his son Jesus and left us with the holy spirit. He could have just left us on our own, but he didn’t.

How amazing is he?

One would think this will be enough for us humans. No, we are made of flesh, so we still doubt him. A friend/spiritual sister was telling me that although doubt is not one of God’s commandments, it’s one of those dreadful sins. When we doubt God, we put God in a tiny box, we compare him to humans, when he clearly is not!

God is not a man; he will not lie. God is not a human being; his decisions will not change. If he says he will do something, then he will do it. If he makes a promise, then he will do what he promised.
Numbers 23:19 ERV

Did David doubt God?

David was sure and he believed! I have to admit that I have doubted God a few times. At the time, I didn’t really know God. I heard about God, but I never really knew his word. Occasionally, I fall short, something you and I can work on together. Thankfully, we have the holy spirit to teach us God’s ways.

Back to that piece of paper I told you about. So you have written your Goliath, yes, I’m talking about that BIG situation that’s costing your sleep. Now, write all the other BIG situations you encountered in the past. You’re probably trying to remember a few and cannot. That’s because everything is temporary! The devil eventually gives up! God always steps in!

Rejoice in trials

Every situation serves a purpose and will be overcome through perseverance. The same God who delivered you from that situation, will deliver you from your Goliath. Same God back then, same God right now!God is watching and waiting, but you need to get onto your knees and pray!

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1:2‭-‬3 NIV

Tonight, ask God to forgive you for doubting him. Ask him to give you the wisdom needed to conquer Goliath. David had five stones and a stick.

What do you have in your hand which you can use?

What qualities do you possess which can be used to conquer your situation?

Can you speak to a spiritual friend?

Who do you know, who knows somebody, who knows somebody?Divine Connections!

You are never on your own.

Tonight, ask your father to help you defeat the enemy, pray to him and just believe that he will. Do this and tonight you WILL sleep.

This is a sure word from God 🙂
